Arts and Culture

Here in Kimberley, arts and culture lie in the heart of our community. Our vibrant music scene, festivals and events, artisans and galleries all add something special to every stay. Bring a sense of wonder and a little flair for fun, then tap your feet to the beat and get ready to soak up some of our creative spirit.

Centre 64

Join us at Centre 64, our arts and culture hub in Kimberley. It’s a place to mingle with like-minded locals and art enthusiasts, celebrate local, fine art exhibits, dance to live entertainment and enjoy creative workshops for all ages. The gallery showcases works from a variety of local and regional artists and features rotating themes throughout the year. Entry into the gallery is free or by donation, with all donations helping to support the non-profit Centre 64 Society.

This is also the place to enjoy theatrical performances, fun events like the community-favourite Latin Dance Nights, and intimate shows like the Saltwater Sessions or the Live @ Studio 64 Concert Series. Plus, the Centre 64 Society plays a key role in organizing annual events like First Saturdays and the Kimberley Kaleidoscope Arts Festival.

Galleries, Artists and Artisans

Though Centre 64 is a long-time mecca for all things arts and culture, you’ll find more of our creative spirit sprinkled all throughout town. Find amazing blown glass and functional art at Mountain Grass Gallery & Bistro: a boutique art gallery featuring Canadian and locally made glass, ceramics, fine craft, and healthy and delicious foods. Then, head to The Laundromat: a private art gallery in the heart of the Platzl, which features rotating local and regional artists, and aims to build a sense of community with every event and showcase they host. Looking for more? Discover unique jewelry pieces, hand-crafted ceramics, intricate wood carvings, and more of our local artists and creators by visiting the many artisan shops peppered throughout our downtown core.

We believe that any event, season, or time of year is worthy of celebration.

Live Music

From intimate backyard concerts to studio sessions or Platzl performances, our music scene brings a sense of celebration to the community and makes every visit all the more memorable. Discover some of the great local and regional talents that we’re lucky to have in Kimberley, and prepare to bump shoulders with fun-loving locals on the dance floor.

Throughout the winter, all runs lead to live music. Many of the local businesses and restaurants have events and recurring live music performances. During the warmer months, the Platzl comes alive with the sound of music. Bust a move every Thursday evening during the Kimberley Farmers’ Markets, and enjoy memorable outdoor concerts at local venues. Tunes can also be enjoyed alongside many of our summer festivals and events, such as Symphony on the Mountain and JulyFest.

Festivals

We believe that any event, season, or time of year is worthy of celebration here. From Larch Fest in the fall to Flannel Fest in the winter, Dirtbag Film Fest come spring, and JulyFest in the summer, we’ve got no shortage of unique festivals to tickle the fancy of any Kimberley visitor. Our suggestion? Pick your preferred time of year, then plan a trip around one of our signature events. No matter which festival you choose, prepare for a whole lot of entertainment, excitement, and good old-fashioned fun.
