A Good Place to Eat: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner in Kimberley BC

Every bustling Kimberley itinerary needs a good amount of fantastic food to fuel the fun. Around here, every meal is the most important meal of the day, and is the perfect opportunity to celebrate good times with good friends. Dig in, savour, and get ready to discover your next favourite meal here.

BREAKFAST

Wake up to fresh coffee, perfectly runny yolks, and sunny service. Whether you’re looking to fuel a day of adventure, or want to ease into a quiet morning of downtown exploring, our breakfast spots offer enough get-up-and-go to get-up-and-get-after-it.

  • Charcoal Restaurant & Sports Bar. While Charcoal transforms into a great spot for Indian food, late-night deals, and classic pub-grub in the evening, the mornings are reserved for scrumptious skillets and sugary delights. Grab a benny and a fruit-packed smoothie, then get ready to charge into the rest of your day.

  • Deer Park Diner. Spice things up with chilaquiles, keep it classic with a Full English, then save some room for brunch and lunch-time goodies like their corned beef melt or their bacon cheeseburger. This newest breakfast joint in town has quickly become a favourite for locals and visitors alike, and for good reason! We recommend washing everything down with a milkshake or mimosa, and bringing the whole family along for the ride.

  • Our Place Restaurant. This spot is an institution in its own right, and has proudly served many generations of Kimberley folk throughout the years. We love the kid-friendly options like their Mickey Mouse pancakes and Dino Fingers, and the more grown-up options like their delicious omelettes or their Platzl Burgers. While here, take in some of the historical mining memorabilia adorning the walls.

  • Bread & Butter. This family-run artisanal bakery says they “specialise in sourdough bread and mouthwatering baked goods — all made with the highest-quality ingredients, a commitment to sustainable local food systems, and a whole lot of love.” We couldn't agree more! Opt for cinnamon buns, muffins and cookies, or grab a hand-milled loaf to toast up at home, slathered in butter.

Hint: don’t sleep on our coffee culture and all of the quick breakfast options at our local cafes. The Bean Tree, the Snowdrift Cafe, Timber Hitch and the Koffee Kan each serve up quick and convenient breakfast options alongside their delicious coffees. Plus, we hear our local golf courses serve up early-bird options to all of our favourite golfers during the summer months

LUNCH

A mid-day meal to take your day from better to best? Yes please! Dig in to healthy eats, grab n’ go treats, and all of the mouth-watering Kimberley options in between.

  • Mountain Grass Bistro. From bowls, to wraps, to delicious smoothies, Mountain Grass Bistro is known for their healthy choices and fresh fares. We love their daily soups and homemade crackers, and take any opportunity to browse the unique blown-glass and art pieces in their retail gallery while waiting for lunch to be whipped up.

  • Stoke Market. What do you get when you mix a gas station with an organic market and a fabulous bakery? Stoke Market, of course! Don’t let the gas station facade fool you - this spot is a locals’ favourite for fresh sourdough, grab n’ go sandwiches and sweet treats, and fresh-pressed organic juices to wash it all down.

  • Golf Courses. With 3 championship courses, 3 signature holes, and enough challenging fairways to please the pros, golfing here is a sure-shot good time. The bonus? Each of our 3 courses comes with its own clubhouse, which serves up signature eats and perfect post-round cheer. Be sure to include Trickle Creek Golf Club, Bootleg Gap Golf, and Purcell Golf into your dining itinerary while here.

  • The Shed. Barbeque lovers rejoice! The Shed is our favourite spot for house-smoked brisket, soul-food sides, BC craft beer, and a fun, laid-back atmosphere. Try their saucy sandwiches, or look for their rotating daily specials to test your tastebuds.

  • The Burrito Grill. Burritos, tacos, nachos, and a beer-garita to top it all off! The Burrito Grill has been a Kimberley staple for a while now, and continues to impress with tried-and-true favourites and their customizable menu. Grab a spot on their front or back deck, then dig in to delicious, Mexican-inspired fares.

  • Two Jay’s Cafe. If you’ve frequented any of the Farmers’ Markets in the area, chances are you have had the delicious Bear’s Pie Factory pies from the folks at Two Jay’s Cafe. Alongside their sweet or savoury pies, enjoy daily soup and sandwich specials, and a variety of fresh offerings throughout the week.

Seasonal: don’t miss gems like Nina’s Hillside Garden in the summer, and shoulder-season deals like the Sunday Taco Platter at The Shed

DINNER

After a day full of Kimberley shenanigans, re-fuel at our delicious dining establishments. From regional favourites to farm-fresh produce or convenient takeout, our dinner restaurants are a place to nosh with strangers and discover a little flair for foodie fun.

  • Pedal & Tap. What goes best with a day spent biking? A bike-themed restaurant that goes full-send on flavour! If you’ve been to Kimberley, there’s a good chance you’ve eaten at the P&T. This spot is always busy, always on-point, and always quick to offer innovative takes on familiar favourites. Get your name on the waitlist, then head for a drink at their sister restaurant The Shed while you wait for your table to be prepared.

  • Stonefire Pizzeria. Embracing the Italian tradition of Neapolitan pizza, Stonefire prides itself on hand-made pizzas with the freshest toppings. Don’t skip on the pasta selection and shareables, too, and save room for a panna cotta or tiramisu. Reservations are encouraged here, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights when you can enjoy live music alongside your wood-fired pizza and garlic-soaked pastas.

  • Biscuit: A Place to Sup. If you haven’t discovered Biscuit, prepare to have your tastebuds tickled. Known for craft cocktails, an eclectic beer and cider list, and a commitment to using locally sourced and premium ingredients, Biscuit: A Place to Sup offers a fresh, rotating menu that all foodies will enjoy.

  • Buckhorn & Main Mountain Eatery. Tucked into the base of the Kimberley Alpine Resort inside of the Trickle Creek Lodge, Buckhorn & Main is a close and convenient option for the ski crowd, and a beloved dine-in spot for locals and visitors alike. Come to enjoy steak-house favourites and saucy ribs, then stay for cakes and cheer while you take in evening views of the Canadian Rockies.

  • The Hourglass. The Hourglass is the perfect place to connect with new and old friends, nosh on sharing plates, sip on craft cocktails, and enjoy conversation in a refined environment. Dig into the Hellroaring Dip, climb to the top of the Mount Evans Nachos, then clink glasses with a seasonal cocktail.

  • Sushi N’ More. Sushi N’ More is exactly as the name suggests: your favourite sushi offerings and a whole lot more! Opt for takeaway, or snag one of the cozy tables inside to enjoy fresh sushi rolls, yummy ramen bowls, and classic Korean favourites like Bibimbap and Bulgogi.

  • Kimberley Kitchen. Classic Chinese-takeout favourites, massive portions, and a family-friendly atmosphere? Yes please! We love the Kimberley Kitchen for an easy takeout option after a long day adventuring, or for a comfortable dine-in experience to keep the fun times going. Share a few dishes with the entire family, and get ready to enjoy some leftovers the next day!

  • Grubstake Pizza. Every quintessential ski town needs a go-to spot for takeout pizza. These pies are hearty, fresh, and jam-packed with all of your favourite toppings. Order a few pizzas for delivery, or pick one up and transport it to your next Kimberley destination. We’re big fans of shreside pizza at St. Mary Lake, or campfire slices at the Kimberley Riverside Campground.

  • Marysville Pub. Classic pub-grub, cold beer, and friendly service are all on order at the “MVP.” Alongside their delicious pizzas and savoury hand-helds, we also love the fun weekly events held here, and the creative cocktails that the team mixes up.

  • Sullivan Pub. The Sullivan Pub has been a Kimberley institution for decades, and is still one of the best spots to enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a whole lot of libations in between. The menu here is big, the portions are generous, and the staff are fabulous. Come discover why “The Sully” continues to be a Kimberley favourite.

Coming soon: our beloved Old Bauernhaus Restaurant may have closed, but rumour has it something new is brewing at the former Bauernhaus location. While we don’t have the details yet, we have a feeling it’s going to be great

Bonus: DESSERT

On the off-chance that you still have a little room left at the end of the day, don’t miss out on some of the yummy dessert offerings in town. We love the mousse cakes at Grow Cake & Chocolate, the ice cream at Lickity Split and Summit Snacks, and the fresh-fudge and nostalgic candies at La Lune Candy Shoppe.
